Foram convidados sete fotógrafos de estilos e técnicas distintas para construir um repertório único e longe dos clichês, que se direcionam para os costumes, religião, arquitetura e cultura popular dosubúrbio carioca.
O cortejo da imagem de Yemanjá vinda de Madureira até a praia de Copacabana contrastava com o registro da Garota da Lage, assim como a alegria das brincadeiras das crianças residentes nas comunidades eram confrontadas com a arquitetura perfurada com tiros de fuzis.
Seven photographers of different styles and techniques were invited to build a unique, away-fromclichés repertoire, directed to the customs, religion, architecture, and popular culture of the suburbs of Rio. The procession of Yemanjá’s image from Madureira to Copacabana beach contrasted with the record of The Slab Girl (‘A Garota da Laje’, a beauty contest for community girls), as well as the joy of the children’s games in the communities were confronted with the architecture pierced with rifle shots.
