A exposição partiu de uma proposta feita aos artistas convidados em realizar suas obras sobre o mesmo suporte: o papel de seda. Inicialmente foi sugerido que as obras fossem coladas diretamente sobre as paredes da galeria, reiterando o caráter frágil e efêmero da matéria.
Contudo, surgiram propostas que extrapolaram a bidimensionalidade e o emprego deste material. Papel de Seda surgiu com o propósito de que os artistas se divertissem com a ideia de criar algo novo e leve.
The exhibition started with a proposal made to the invited artists to carry out their works on the same medium: the tissue paper. Initially it was suggested that the works be pasted up directly on the walls of the gallery, reiterating its fragile and ephemeral character. However, there were proposals that extrapolated the bi-dimensionality and the use of this material. The Tissue Paper exhibition came out as a means for the artists to have fun with the idea of creating something new and light.
