Santo Forte

Em 2012, o fotógrafo Alex Ferro visitou pela primeira vez o terreiro de Candomblé Ilê Asé Atara Magba Omindarewá, dirigido pela iyalorixá de origem francesa, Iyá Giselle Omindarewá Cossard, localizado
em Santa Cruz da Serra.

Este ensaio faz parte da investigação do artista sobre manifestações populares no Brasil e em Portugal, onde ele passou uma parte daquele ano trabalhando em outros projetos. Em sua tentativa de “capturar o divino”, ele concebeu imagens carregadas de uma beleza única, e imprimiu uma narrativa contemporânea para uma tradição ancestral.

Posteriormente, as obras fizeram parte de uma exposição coletiva na Firehouse Plaza Art Gallery, em Nova York.

Photographer Alex Ferro visited in 2012, for the first time the Candomblé cult house Ilê Asé Atara Magba Omindarewá, directed by the iyalorixá of French origin, Iyá Giselle Omindarewá Cossard, located in Santa Cruz da Serra. This essay is part of the artist’s research on popular demonstrations in Brazil and Portugal, where he spent part of that year working on other projects. In his attempt to “capture the divine,” he conceived images loaded with unique beauty, and conferred a contemporary narrative on an ancestral tradition. Subsequently, the works were part of a collective exhibition at the Firehouse Plaza Art Gallery in New York.
